WHY DO I NEED MY BACKFLOW TESTED?
When you have your valve tested, you help ensure clean, safe drinking water for your community. The state of Washington requires backflow valves to be tested annually. (WAC 246-290-490)
Potable water contamination results from backflow or issues with cross-connections. Cross-connections are links where contaminants can enter a potable water distribution system. They also increase the risk of backflow, which occurs when the flow of water reverses, causing changes in pressure. This pressure difference can pull contaminants such as human waste, fertilizers, pesticides, and dirty water into the potable water system.
Backflow valves connect to water pipes and prevent backflow by only allowing water flow in one direction. The assemblies are used for commercial, industrial, and residential potable water systems. Backflow valves must be inspected annually by a certified Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT), and we are honored to provide this service to our community.
